Story Invention Game

Born to WriteIn my elementary school assembly, we play a game called the “Story Invention Game.”  This brainstorming game uses parts of speech (Noun, Verb, Adjective, and Adverb) to get the creativity flowing.  It fully banishes the scary “blank piece of paper mind warp.”

Here are two tools for use in the classroom:

  1. Story Invention Game Trading Cards
  2. Story Invention Game Worksheet

When I design more tools, I’ll put them here too.  Have a great time being creative, and don’t forget to have your students enter my Story Writing Contest after they write their stories!

One day a wolf was born, he had black fur. His name is Will, along came a owl who is very nice, but tricky. A few months later when they were kids, Will asked his tribe to go play. Then, the owl and Willy bumped into each other. “Hel-lo my name is Owllie.” said the shy owl. ” Oh, hi! My name Will, what are you doing?”. Owllie told the whole story. “Cool! Want to play?!”. Owllie said “OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!”. When the parents caught them playing, they seperated them. Mother Wolf said ” Don’t Play with your food!”. The Mother Owl said ” Do not play with your predators”. One day when the two friends played the parents realized that they were friends, so they decided to live together! The End.

What a cool story! I like how the wolf and the owl played so well together, and how understanding their parents were in the end. I hope everyone knows that owl is not for eating!

I’ll put your story in the contest and here’s the link to submit more stories: http://balloonstoryteller.com/submitstory.php

I hope to see you again very soon! :)
